iconDry Sauna Rooms

A dry sauna room is a wood paneled room with an electric or wood stove, the same as a wet sauna room. The stove or heater heats rocks which radiates heat within the room creating a temperature of around 160 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.

Due to the low level of humidity (often around 5%) in a dry sauna room, you are able to feel comfortable even though the temperature is quite high. Lack of moisture in the air allows your perspiration to evaporate quite quickly which has a cooling effect on your body. A dry sauna room takes about 30 to 40 minutes to heat up ready for use.

iconInfrared Saunas – the other Dry Sauna

Traditional saunas heat the air in the room, however Far Infrared Saunas heat your body directly. The radiant heat from a Far Infrared Sauna is felt
by some people to be more tolerable than that of a wet sauna and more soothing than the heat from a traditional dry sauna.

The heat from an infrared sauna is absorbed at about 1.5 inches below the skin, making it particularly effective for disorders involving joints, muscles and chronic pain conditions.

Far Infrared Saunas only take about 5 minutes to heat up and be ready for use.

iconWet Sauna Rooms

A wet sauna room has high humidity as the air is filled with moisture. The temperature is generally around 110 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit and the humidity level is around 100 percent. As you will know from having experienced weather that has either high or low humidity, a dry heat is more comfortable at a given temperature than is humid heat. For this reason a comfortable temperature in a dry room may be higher than in a wet room.

When the rocks on the stove or heater are sprinkled with water, the humidity in the sauna room increases and the heat becomes more intense. As with the dry sauna room, it takes around 30 to 40 minutes to be hot enough to use.

This type of wet sauna is quite different from a Steam Room in the way it is constructed and the way in which the steam is produced.

iconWhich One is Best for Me?

A dry sauna room or a wet sauna room – is just a matter of personal preference. Quite often people may begin with a dry sauna, take a break and then re enter and create a wet sauna, thereby taking advantage of both. This may seem like a prolonged process but that is the whole point of the sauna - a time to unwind, relax and rejuvenate. Time spent in your Home Sauna this way is an investment in health care for you and your family.

Both stimulate respiration and circulation, reduce tension, relax muscles, allow for a natural body detox and create beautiful glowing skin. Some sauna goers claim the health benefits of steam are superior, but it is really just a matter of choice.

iconDry Rooms and Wet Rooms - Sauna Installation

Any pre-built free standing sauna will be cheaper than a custom built sauna due to the time and labor involved. No frame building is necessary and all pre-built saunas come with instructions. No special tools are required and you should be able to put it together within a few hours.

Sauna kits come in a wide range of styles and sizes, so choosing this type of Sauna Room will not severely restrict your choice. If you have minimal experience in building or are a home handyman, this may be a good choice for you and save you money on your Home Sauna investment.

Many sauna sales sites have a manual in PDF format that you are able to look at before ordering, just to take the guesswork out of it and let you know about the journey you are about to embark upon.
